Sound Therapy
What is Sound Therapy?
The Greek philosopher and mathematician Pythagoras (580-500 B.C.E), spoke of how sound functions in relationship to the universe and that music contributed greatly to health if used in the right way. Sound is the rhythm of life, and everything around us vibrates — including the human body, which carries its own rhythms. Everything in the Universe vibrates. The moon, stars, earth, all vibrate. Sound therapy is a gentle yet powerful practice that uses sound vibrations to support deep relaxation, emotional release and nervous system regulation.
In a group setting, sound therapy is a deeply soothing practice that uses sound vibrations such as Tibetan/crystal bowls, gongs, drumming, various chimes, to name but a few. It brings the mind, body, and soul into a deep state of relaxation, balance and healing. These harmonic sounds help calm the mind, ease tension in the body and restore harmony to the nervous system and energetic field by the induction of alpha brainwave activity or deep meditation.
The Peter Hess Method
The 1:1 sound massage I offer is the Peter Hess Method which is a powerful therapeutic approach where specially crafted singing bowls are placed on and around the body. Our body consists of nearly 80% water to which these sound waves spread through liquid in tissues, tendons, muscles, organs, bones and cavities. In essence, these waves stimulate the entire body which allows for blockages and tension to clear away.
‘Just like when a stone is dropped into a pond, concentric waves spread over the water’s surface. Every molecule of the water is set moving – Peter Hess’.
Sound is the Key of Life
My own journey with sound therapy began over 15 years ago, during a difficult time in my life where I experienced high levels of anxiety and insomnia. Experiencing the profound stillness that sound brought into my life was life-changing, and it eventually inspired me to become a practitioner. I now bring this healing modality to others with sensitivity, presence and a deep respect for each person's unique experience.
Offerings
I facilitate sound therapy sessions and workshops in a variety of settings, including:
Wellness events & retreats
Corporate wellness sessions
Private groups or 1:1 settings
Healthcare & community environments
With a background in social care, I bring trauma awareness and compassion to all my sessions. Workshops typically run between 1–2 hours, depending on the event or setting.
I do not currently offer sessions from a fixed space, and instead bring sound therapy into shared spaces or events. However, if a person would like me to visit their home for a 1:1 session, arrangements can be made for this. Pricing is available upon request, depending on the format and collaboration.
Important Information
Please note, this is not suitable for:
1st trimester of pregnancy
Those who use pacemakers
Sound induced epilepsy
If you suffer from any mental health difficulties or have any underlying conditions, please contact me to discuss.
What to Wear?
Comfort is key ✨
We want you to feel warm, cosy and relaxed during the session, so bring along anything that helps you stay snug. Here are a few suggestions:
Comfy clothes (layers are best)
Yoga mat
Warm blanket
Pillow / eye mask
Water bottle
As your body temperature naturally drops once you settle in, we recommend wearing warm layers, fluffy socks or anything else that keeps you comfortable.
